1970s

Humble Beginnings — From Farm to Brush

The brush industry of Yuantan originated back in the 1970s. At the very beginning, local farmers collected hog bristles and handcrafted simple paint brushes and brooms as a side income to support family livelihood. Pioneers traveled nationwide carrying brushes for sales, who were locally called "backpack salesmen", laying the earliest foundation of our brush trade.

1990s

Rapid Growth — From Handcraft to Mechanization

The industry stepped into rapid growth: manual production shifted to semi-mechanized manufacturing. Local craftsmen expanded business nationwide, gradually turned from basic household brushes to industrial customized brushes for machinery, sanitation and equipment cleaning, and countless family workshops sprang up across the town.

After 2000

Industrial Clustering — from Scattered Workshops to Centralized Parks

Standardized industrial parks were built to gather scattered workshops, realizing large-scale, automated centralized production. Supporting sectors including raw material supply, brush-making machinery, mold development, logistics and testing services matured one after another, forming a closed-loop whole industrial chain within the town.

2009

National Recognition — China Brush Industry Base

Yuantan was awarded China Brush Industry Base by China National Light Industry Council, officially recognizing its dominant position in the national brush manufacturing landscape.

2019

Crowning Achievement — Capital of Brush Industry in China

Yuantan obtained the honorary title of Capital of Brush Industry in China, marking the industry's full upgrading and its undisputed leadership position. The town now takes the lead in drafting national standards for brush wear resistance testing, owning professional testing & R&D centers for industrial brushes.
